How to get photo realistic scenery into AeroFly Pro
It's possible to get photorealistic scenery in AFP without upgrading to the Deluxe version. This is because the scenery files are a separate module of the program.
Enterprising RC pilot / programmers around the world have taken pictures of actual flying fields (or just nice scenery) and created the appropriate files. You just need to download and install them.
Take a look at the example below:
Scenery of t'Woudt near Delft in Holland. Taking off from the grass field felt realistically bumpy to me! Built by Aad Laros, nice job!
There is a great location to get these downloads:
http://www.rc-sim.de/index_en.htm
This site has downloadable sceneries and models, for Aerofly Pro, Reflex and FMS. There are even support forums. The site is mostly in German, but with some effort can be deciphered by those of who speak no Deutsch. To save you some time, here is the procedure to get your download up and running:
1) Register for the forums. You cannot download anything till you register for the forums. It's simple, you will get a confirmation email.
2) Go to Downloads, then IPACS, then Aerofly Pro
3) Select AFP scenes
4) Browse to your heart's content, pick one scenery to download.
5) The Download Icon is at far right of the scenery box. If you don't see it, you're either not registered or not logged in.
6) After downloading to your PC, use Winzip 8.1 or later to open. There's a free 21 day trial of WinZip9 available on the web, it worked for me.
7) After unzipping, on your home PC go to IPACS, AFP, Scenery.
8) Under Scenery, create a folder with same name as the files you're copying, e.g. "woud"
9) In the woud folder, place .bmp .obj and .tmt file types, with the following exceptions:
10) Place the woud.bmp and woud.bmp files in the Scenery folder (outside of the Would folder)
11) Also, place the woud.geo file in the Scenery folder. See the directory pics below:
Now simply start AFP, switch to the Woud scenery in the main menu, and enjoy!
